A SUMMARY OF THE VARIOUS COMMEMORATIONS AND REUNIONS OF THE T24 TORPEDO BOAT

1973 – The first initiative to meet the former sailors of the T24 is taken by three friends: Josef Küpper, Hans Offizier and my father Alfred Kühn.

1974 – The 1st meeting for the 30th anniversary of the survivors of  Canadian destroyer HMCS Athabaskan GO7 – sunk by the German torpedo boat (T24) whose crew rescued 48 Canadian survivors on the night of 29 April 1944. The Canadian delegation was represented by 69 people. The German delegation was represented by three people.

1977 – 25 June 1977: commemoration at the Berneuil military cemetery (Charente-Maritime).

1979 – 24 August 1979: commemoration at the Berneuil military cemetery (Charente-Maritime) with the presence of 14 sailors from T24.

1980 – On 20 and 21 September 1980: the reunion of 48 sailors in Budingen (Germany), and a commemoration on 18 November 1980 at the Berneuil military cemetery (Charente-Maritime) with the participation only of my father.

1982 – 4th and 5th September 1982: the 5th reunion with the participation of 45 sailors in Budingen, Germany. 14 November 1982: commemoration at the military cemetery of Berneuil (Charente-Maritime) with the participation only of my father.

1984 – The 2nd meeting for the 40th anniversary of the survivors of  Canadian destroyer HMCS Athabaskan GO7, from 23 April to 8 May 1984 with sailors of the T24. 7th meeting of sailors of the T24 in Kiel on 25 August 1984 with 36 participants. From 23 to 30 June 1984: commemoration at the military cemetery in Berneuil (Charente-Maritime) with 41 participants.

1985 – 27 April 1985: Franco-Canadian ceremony in memory of the 59 dead sailors found on the beaches and buried in the Plouescat cemetery. August 23rd and 24th 1985: Meeting of 35 sailors in Budingen, Germany.

1986 – May 6, 1986 in Brignogan-Plage the memory of HMCS Athabaskan. On 6 May 1986 Landéda remembers the sinking of HMCS Athabaskan. On 6 May 1986 visit of the Royal Navy and the rest of the paragraph. 17-19 May 1986: meeting of 23 sailors in Budingen, Germany.

1987 – 22 and 23 August 1987: meeting of 37 sailors in Budingen in Germany and France from 18 to 24 June 1987 for the 20th anniversary of the inauguration of the German military cemetery of Berneuil (Charente-Maritime).

EINE ZUSAMMENFASSUNG DER VERSCHIEDENEN GEDENKFEIERN UND WIEDERVEREINIGUNGEN DES TORPEDOBOOTES T24

1973 – Die erste Initiative, die ehemaligen Matrosen der T24 zu treffen, wird von drei Freunden ergriffen: Josef Küper, Hans Offizier und meinem Vater Alfred Kühn.

1974 – Das 1. Treffen zum 30. Jahrestag der Überlebenden des kanadischen Zerstörers HMCS Athabaskan GO7 – versenkt durch das deutsche Torpedoboot (T24), dessen Besatzung in der Nacht vom 29. April 1944 48 kanadische Überlebende rettete. Die kanadische Delegation war mit 69 Personen vertreten. Die deutsche Delegation war mit drei Personen vertreten.

1977 – 25. Juni 1977: Gedenken auf dem Militärfriedhof von Berneuil (Charente-Maritime).

1979 – 24. August 1979: Gedenkfeier auf dem Militärfriedhof von Berneuil (Charente-Maritime) in Anwesenheit von 14 Matrosen von T24.

1980 – Am 20. und 21. September 1980: das Wiedersehen von 48 Matrosen in Budingen (Deutschland) und eine Gedenkfeier am 18. November 1980 auf dem Militärfriedhof von Berneuil (Charente-Maritime), an der nur mein Vater teilnahm.

1982 – Am 4. und 5. September 1982: das 5. Wiedersehen mit der Teilnahme von 45 Matrosen in Budingen, Deutschland. 14. November 1982: Gedenkfeier auf dem Militärfriedhof von Berneuil (Charente-Maritime) nur unter Beteiligung meines Vaters.

1984 – Das 2. Treffen zum 40. Jahrestag der Überlebenden des kanadischen Zerstörers HMCS Athabaskan GO7, vom 23. April bis 8. Mai 1984 mit den Matrosen des T24. 7. Treffen der Matrosen des T24 in Kiel am 25. August 1984 mit 36 Teilnehmern. Vom 23. bis 30. Juni 1984: Gedenkfeier auf dem Militärfriedhof von Berneuil (Charente-Maritime) mit 41 Teilnehmern.

1985 – 27. April 1985: Französisch-Kanadische Zeremonie zum Gedenken an die 59 Seeleute, die an den Stränden gestrandet und auf dem Friedhof von Plouescat begraben wurden. 23. und 24. August 1985: Treffen von 35 Matrosen in Budingen, Deutschland.

1986 – Am 6. Mai 1986 in Brignogan-Plage das Gedenken an den Athabaskan. Am 6. Mai 1986 erinnert Landéda an den Untergang der Athabaskan. Am 6. Mai 1986 Besuch der Royal Navy und Fortsetzung des Absatzes. 17. bis 19. Mai 1986: Treffen von 23 Matrosen in Budingen, Deutschland.

1987 – 22. und 23. August 1987: Treffen von 37 Matrosen in Budingen, Deutschland und Frankreich vom 18. bis 24. Juni 1987 anlässlich des 20. Jahrestages der Einweihung des deutschen Soldatenfriedhofs von Berneuil (Charente-Maritime).
